I can remember the 1st time I saw and heard Elliott Smiths music, was at the 2nd Yo Yo A Go Go in Olympia Washington. Totally became a fan of his singer songwriter style, ranging from mellow acoustic ballads to full band accompanied mellow rockers. Its hard to not find yourself nodding along to the melody and voice of Elliott Smith. He was also one of the first in the underground indie music scene of the mid 90's to achieve some level of mainstream success. Movie soundtrack's and Grammy Nominations, the world seemed like it was about to discover Elliott and his music. Everything was cut short by his untimely death in 2003. I'm glad that I was able to catch him live a few times and this pic was one of them. The Silverlake Lounge is a small place and allowed for a pretty intimate show for audience members. I normally always shot with a 24mm or wider lens during these years and for some reason I think I shot this with a standard 50mm. Looking back I think I made the right choice.
